Hands Across the Border 2019 “Ruby Serendipity” Quilts

On Saturday 4th May 2019 in the Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart, Lady Mary Peters officially launched the 2019 Hands Across the Border Exhibition. [This event is hosted biennially by The Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild and The Irish Patchwork Society’s. ]

In 2019 NIPG were the hosts coinciding with NIPG celebrating their 40th anniversary. In honour of which, the theme nominated was ‘Ruby Serendipity’.

The exhibition was a resounding success, with many positive comments. The current Chair, Paula Ellis and her committee did an amazing job in getting the exhibition together. The venue was excellent and having Lady Mary Peters to do the honours at the opening contributed to making the NIPG’s 40 Celebrations really exciting. [As if having a Kaffe Fassett talk and Workshop weren’t enough].

NIPG and IPA meet monthly in their respective locations, and consist of a diverse group of members, with a common interest in fabric, traditional/modern patchwork and quilting. The patchworks exhibited reflect a wide range of interpretations, including various colours, techniques, fibres and fabric.
