The NIPG Constitution as adopted at AGM June 7th 2025

We asked all NIPG members to examine the proposed updated Constitution, this was voted upon and accepted as our new Constitution at the 2025 AGM on June 7th.

The Northern Ireland Patchwork Guild was founded by Deborah Baillie in March 1979. It was several years later, as the Guild grew, that a Constitution was drawn up. Since then, minor changes were made, however we have known for some time, that a major rewrite was needed. Technology has made many tasks much easier – committee meetings via Zoom; banking etc. It was time to bring the Constitution into the 21st Century. Thank you to each and everyone for their careful examination and input. In particular, we thank Lynda McCreery for her patience and hard work in co-ordinating and re-writing and editing the Constitution.

Why do we need a Constitution?

  • A constitution establishes the basic rules and principles by which our organization operates.
  • It defines the our structure.
  • A constitution outlines the powers and duties of all members.
  • It sets limits on the exercise of power, ensuring that no individual or greoup of individuals act arbitrarily or oppressively.
  • Basically it keeps us all on the right track.

You can access both versions of the constitution here:
