Linda Cowbert ‘Aurora Goddess of the dawn’

The subject of my quilt is Aurora, the Roman Goddess of the Dawn. Although the myth tells of her flying across the sky to bring up the dawn, I have chosen to show her drawing back the night to reveal the sunrise. The background of the quilt is pieced in cotton fabrics and Aurora on her bed is appliqued in cottons and silks. The quilting is machined with some of it free motion with beads and sequins to embellish it.
